UEFA Euro 2020 will feature 24 teams for the second time in the history’s competition. However, this time around, there will only be two teams taking their place in the tournament for the very first time. Finland and North Macedonia will be the 34th and 35th teams to make their debuts at the 16th European Championship. They qualified in very different circumstances. Finland clinched their place at the European Championship over a year and a half ago, finishing second in their group behind Italy and ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina and former Champions Greece. North Macedonia were one of the four teams to book their place in the tournament in November’s playoffs, coming through Playoff Path D, a path that was guaranteed to find a debutant with Georgia, Kosovo and Belarus dispatched.
